Excursion Outline

Welcome to Redwood National Forest!

This photographic adventure will guide you into one of the most ethereal, inspiring, and humbling parts of America. Ancient redwoods towering over 350 feet will no doubt leave you with a fresh perspective of just how very small we are. This is a photographic workshop for your portfolio and also for your heart. You’ll find yourself wandering in the lush ferns on red worn trails, surrounded by giants.

When the fog settles into the forest it is truly a magical experience. We’ll hopefully time the workshop to coincide with the spectacular and vibrant rhododendrons that will be blooming amongst the trees.

The workshop will take place in Redwood National Forest, but we will also spend time photographing the sunset over the coastal area, which includes towering sea stacks.

In addition, we’ll also explore canyon walls that are covered in ferns, coastal rainforest, work on long exposures together, and there will be opportunities to use your macro lenses as well.

If your portfolio is in need of a little bit of magic, this ethereal trip is for you. We so hop you can join us. Should you have any questions regarding the trip, please don’t hesitate to e-mail us. We would love to see you soon!

The Redwood National Forest is home to many trails. We will primarily be on easy trails that will guide us towards the coastal forest that is home to the Redwoods, as well as exploring the sea stacks of Oregon.

We believe group size is important for the ability to provide as much one-on-one instruction in the field as necessary. You'll never need to fight for the best spot. We make sure there's room for everyone!

These two photographers were a dream to learn from! Their knowledge about composition, lighting, gear, etc. is second to none. They can teach anyone from a total beginner to a more advanced photographer. I will definitely book another workshop with them and I can’t wait to see what else I can learn.

All locations and times visited will be determined by the conditions given. All elements are watched closely for the best photographic and learning experience.

Bonus Session

We've listened to our guests and have implemented something that has been hugely beneficial in our time together. Each workshop group attendee will receive an invite for 3 FREE MONTHS to our secure Photography Mentorship Program, Sharpen Your Shutter. Here, you will have access to a live and engaging, online post processing session, a short time after the workshop. This makes way for more shooting in the field and the option to learn from the comfort of your own home. Day One
In the afternoon we’ll gather at the hotel for a brief meet and greet. We’ll give you a run down of what to expect on the workshop, daily departure times and the potential weather conditions we’ll enjoy during our time together.

Following our meet and greet we’ll meet at a local restaurants and enjoy dinner together. It’s a great time for us all to get to know each other.

We’ll keep it low key tonight while we begin our new friendships and cover photographic techniques that will set the foundation for all we're going to learn and cover during our time together.

Day Two
We’ll start our day wandering among the ancient Redwoods in the trails. You’ll find that most of our days will be spent in and around the various areas that are most densily populated with Redwoods. We’ll wait for the fog and work our way through the forest.

Photographing forests can be challenging, so in this workshop we’ll talk about intentional compositions, minimizing distractions while clearly identifying subject matter and the impact light has to support your compositions.

For sunset we’ll find ourselves on the coastal waters, photographing seastacks and working on long exposure photography.

Day Three
Day three will look very much like the previous day. By this time you will be well acquainted with creating images of these giants, the tips and tricks to creating provocative and ethereal images. We’ll enjoy the early dawn light together in the forest before heading for breakfast, followed by short mid day break.

We’ll eat a meal together before heading back to the Pacific ocean to capture the ebb and flow of the water for sunset. This workshop has it all!

Day Four
Today is our last day together and we'll be up well before dawn to make the most of our last day!

Today we’re so excited to wander this part of the world with you as we learn and discover the amazing aspects of the beautiful giants. In addition to the Redwoods, we also may have the opportunity to photograph the Roosevelt Elk which can grow to be over 10 feet long and weigh over 1,100 pounds!

Following our busy morning, we’ll enjoy a bountiful breakfast where we’ll trade contact info, chat about our experiences in the Redwood National Forest and then say “see you later” until our next adventure!
