Excursion Outline

Join us in the American Southwest where we explore and capture what might be one of the largest and favorite areas of nature photographers.

Join the Photography Workshop Company on a photography adventure in one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world. During this five day tour, we will explore some of the iconic locations of the American Southwest along with lesser known hidden gems!

Due to the timing of this workshop we may experience the beauty of several of these locations with snow covering the scenes making this workshop truly magical.

By visiting these natural wonders in January we’ll enjoy a much quieter adventure with fewer visitors.

Each day we’ll arrive early to our photography location to capture sunrise followed by several other locations. We’ll take a short mid day break and then pick back up for an afternoon and evening of shooting sunset. Following sunset, if weather permits we’ll stay out to capture blue hour before heading back to town for dinner together. This adventure will be an exciting and photographically rewarding trip for both beginners and those more advanced.

Amazing. Fabulous. The best experience I could have ever hoped for. Tiffany and Keith are incredible teachers and two of the best hands-on instructors ever! Their skill in working with all different photographic levels was evident and their continual enthusiasm makes me want to go back for more, more, more.

Itinerary

All locations and times visited will be determined by the conditions given. All elements are watched closely for the best photographic and learning experience.

Bonus Session

We've listened to our guests and have implemented something that has been hugely beneficial in our time together. Each workshop group will be invited to a live, recorded, online critique and post processing session, a short time after the workshop. This makes way for more shooting in the field and the option to learn from the comfort of your home and the ability to refer to the recorded session for future reference.

Day One
We’ll meet in the afternoon for a meet and greet so we can get to know each other and we’ll also have a meeting to discuss what you can expect from the workshop along with logistical details. Following we’ll go to dinner together before heading out to capture our first sunset.

Day Two
We’ll be up and out well before dawn to get to our sunrise location. All locations are determined based on the conditions for the morning and any itinerary is subject to change due to light. Following our sunrise shoot, we’ll photograph other nearby locations before heading to enjoy brunch together. Light permitting, we’ll continue to do some shooting before having a short mid day break. Later that day we’ll gather together to photograph sunset and other areas including the stars.

Day Three
There’s so much to explore in this breathtaking area. We’ll wake up early and drive to our sunrise location and prepare to capture the beauty of the changing light. We’ll then visit as many locations as the light allows before heading back to town for breakfast/brunch. We’ll have a short break so everyone can recharge before gathering together later that day for another 5 - 6 hours of photographing the area and ending at a sunset location that is sure to please. On day three we’ll discuss in greater length creating dramatic landscapes that are rich with depth and dimension. We’ll explore the various benefits of using all our lenses to capture the breathtaking desert and surrounding area.

Day Four

Today we will wake up early for sunrise, check out of our hotel and transfer a short distance to a different area of Utah. Lesser visited than the national parks, we’ll enjoy having most of the area to ourselves as we explore and create both sunrise and sunset in the area.

Some minor hiking may be required but nothing will be too strenuous. We’ll again photograph both sunrise and sunset along with photographing as long as the light will allow.

Day Five

Our last day we’ll be up before dawn and headed out for one last sunrise location. We’ll capture the beauty of the early morning light and other nearby locations before breaking around 10:00 a.m. so everyone can pack up and return to their travel plans. If time permits, we’ll enjoy brunch together before we say goodbye for now.
